What Is an Ancestor?
By
What is an ancestor?
Is it someone who you descend from that lived 100 or 200 years ago?
That’s what most people think. But that’s completely wrong
At Least in my opinion, when I think of an ancestor I think of someone great
Someone who paved the way for a person or a group of people,
But not just paved the way anyway, someone who paved the way positively.
I think of an ancestor as someone who will never be forgotten.
But the funny thing about me reciting this poem is the fact that I am an African American young male.
I say this because the black community is and has been for a long while been going through countless problems and struggles.
But with all our ancestry we still can no to manage to realize how great we really all are.
We can’t realize how much we’ve done for this country, a country that could care less about us.
But we have to come to the fact that we are great and that we have a legacy that will never die.
It will never die because we have a strong ancestry.
Not just our ancestry from 200 or 300 years ago.
But also our ancestry from only 40, 50 and 60 years ago,
With people that are in our ancestry like Malcolm.
And Martin, and Marcus, and Fredrick, and Huey.
But also are ancestry of women like Harriet, and Sojourner,
And the list goes on.
But if we always remember our ancestry and the people that made the world for black Americans so much better than what it used to be, we will all become a stronger people.
So always remember what an ancestor is.

Boys
By Elizabeth
Monday – boys are obsessed with baseball
Tuesday – boys think of nothing but soccer
Wednesday – boys play nothing but basketball
Thursday – boys tackle each other in football
Friday – boys skid together to get the puck in hockey
Saturday – boys are caught up in wrestling
Sunday – boys have nothing to think about
