Why We Care
For years cities around the country have had increasingly high rates of youth violence and a large percentage of high school dropouts. The trends are becoming a global issue. Young people everywhere feel disenfranchised from and misunderstood by the main stream now more than ever. Those involved with The Murals of the Mind (M.O.M.) Project™ consider it a duty to actively pursue viable solutions to offset the kind of feelings of separation that manifests as youth violence.
We believe as Marva N. Collins, founder of the Westside Preparatory school in Chicago believes that “…there is a brilliant child locked inside of every student.” We also believe that everyone must take responsibility for mining that brilliance just like a M.O.M. would…and that’s what The Murals of the Mind Project strives to do every day.
